Retracing Afrobeats in London with Adesope Olajide

Afrobeats is everywhere, becoming part of the musical landscape even at mainstream “global” events such as the Grammys. In London, where the genre boasts one of its largest fan bases outside the mother continent, we caught up with one of its greatest supporters, Adesope Olajide, aka Shopsy. Shopsy is a broadcaster, host and promoter, and was among the first to champion Afrobeats in the UK. We accompany him on a visit to South London, where he shows us the spots that played a significant role in his journey as a music professional and were similarly key to the growth of Afrobeats in London.
